Responsibilities and Expectations:

We are seeking a highly skilled Electrical Test Technician to complement our team. This pivotal role represents the final step in our Quality Control Process, ensuring that our delivered products meet the highest standards of performance upon installation in the field. The ideal candidate will take charge of conducting meticulous electrical tests on a diverse range of equipment, encompassing starters, transformers, contactors, overloads, and solid-state overloads.

  • Perform electrical tests on starters, transformers, contactors, overloads, and solid-state overloads.
  • Utilize Megger and Ohmmeters to assess insulation integrity and contact resistance.
  • Interpret and comprehend simple schematics and electrical drawings.
  • Generate comprehensive test reports detailing the results of tests conducted.
  • Conduct Primary and Secondary Injection Testing of Low Voltage Molded Case and insulated case circuit breakers.
  • Utilize Transformer Turns Ratio (TTR) Meters for Low Voltage Transformers.
  • Undertake Field Service work when required.

Qualifications and Competencies:

  • High school diploma or equivalent; technical degree or certification in electrical engineering or related field preferred.
  • Proven experience in electrical testing, preferably in an industrial or manufacturing setting.
  • Proficient in the use of electrical testing equipment such as Megger, Ohmmeters, and TTR Meters.
  • Strong understanding of electrical principles and the ability to read and interpret schematics and electrical drawings.
  • Excellent attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work overtime. Mandatory overtime is required based on business need.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to effectively communicate test results and findings.
  • Willingness to travel for Field Service work as needed.
  • Proper use of Personal Protection Equipment (PPE)
  • Ability to pass a respirator fit test and be trained on proper respirator protocol
  • General understanding and firsthand experience with safe work environments
  • Be able to read, interpret, and modify documents
  • Must possess a valid driver's license and maintain an excellent driving record
  • Ability to possess the following certifications: Pearl Level I and II, Forklift training, TSC Electrical Training Classes completed within one (1) year of hire date, Mine and Safety Administration (MSHA) Training, 10-30 Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) Card, In-house Training on individual machines in the shop

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to lift, push, pull, carry items up to 50 lbs. in weight
  • Ability to stand, stoop, kneel, and bend for prolonged periods of time
  • Ability to perform manual labor for up to 12 or more hours per day
  • Acute hearing and strong field of vision
  • Ability to work in demanding physical and inclement weather conditions
