The Opportunity

We are seeking a Permit Coordinator to coordinate all permits and plan activity for our office. This role may be for you if you are a self-starter, detail-oriented, a problem solver, and love helping clients.

The Permit Coordinator assists in keeping the project workflow running efficiently. This includes promptly pulling permits for projects, working with managers to ensure backend processes are completed prior to the install schedule date, acting as liaison between our customers and city representatives to schedule their install inspections, and other duties to support the project.

The qualified candidate will:

  • Apply for permits with the respective municipalities; compile, update, and maintain reports and files; meet with county officials/municipalities, etc.
  • Obtain documents from engineers and architects to facilitate the permit application process
  • Obtain all required approvals for permits and act as liaison between the company and each municipality, ensuring they are processed in a timely manner
  • Prepare and submit applications to various agencies/boards with jurisdiction over required permits and/or approvals
  • Review any plans issued out of the division for correct revision dates and review start packages for accuracy
  • Prepare check requests
  • Coordinate and paperwork and applications with outside consultants as necessary
  • Submit paperwork for permits
  • Produce and maintain schedules for all communities and coordinate with municipalities from approval to final stages of permitting process
  • Schedule and coordinate meetings, appointments, etc.
  • Enter permitting data
  • Coordinate any inspections needed for closing
  • Maintain all company files relating to site plan applications, approvals, licenses and permits
  • Facilitate with manager to prepare public hearing notifications, entitlement documents, and presentation materials for use at public hearings to obtain project approval

Qualifications

  • Minimum High School Diploma or equivalent required
  • 2+ years of experience with computer skills and customer service
  • 1+ year of permitting experience preferred
  • Highly organized with strong task management skills, ability to prioritize and take initiative
  • Detail-oriented team player comfortable working in a fast-paced environment with heavy volume workload
  • Ability to read blueprints and plot plans
  • Advanced PC skills with Microsoft Word and Excel
  • Excellent follow-up, communication (written and verbal), and time management skills

Physical Demands and Work Environment

  • Work is primarily performed in an office environment
  • Ability to occasionally move equipment/objects weighing up to 10 pounds
